Fallen Maine Soldier Honored 

A Waterville soldier killed in Afghanistan will be honored posthumously Friday night.The family of Specialist Wade Slack will receive the Medal of Valor.That’s the highest award presented by the Elk’s Club.The 21-year-old Army Specialist died in combat on May 6th, 2010.He served with the Army’s 707th Ordnance Battalion at joint base Lewis-McChord.Authorities say Slack had just dismantled an explosive device when he was killed by enemy fire in a mortar attack.U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe will also attend Friday night’s ceremony.
