Fallen Hero Honored 

A Waterville solider killed in Afghanistan was honored this evening.The family of 21-year-old Army Specialist Wade Slack was on hand tonight to accept the Medal of Valor, the highest award presented at the Elk’s Club.Senator Olympia Snowe was also there to honor the fallen hero.”The entire Country has lost a true American hero. A valent solider who perished in the defense of this great land and the principles that we treasure and he so with the noblest of courage and a boundless love for his country that inspires us and humbles us”Slack served with the Army’s 707th Ordinance Battalion at joint base Lewis-McChord in Washington.Authorities say Slack had just dimantled an an explosive device when he was killed by enemy fire in a mortar attack.
