Madison Voters to Decide on Adult Entertainment Ordinance

Voters in Madison are expected to decide tonight whether to put an adult entertainment ordinance on the books – one that could put a stop to a proposed strip club. Town officials drafted the ordinance not long after Ernest George submitted an application to build a “gentlemen’s club” about three miles from downtown.George says its not fair for the town to try to change the rules now, since he’s already turned in his permit for the business. But town manager Norman Dean says folks who live in Madison have the right to adopt the new ordinance. A public hearing on the issue begins at 6:30 p.m. at Madison Junior High. It’s scheduled to be voted on at 7 p.m.
