Gubernatorial Candidates Talk Education Reform 

Some of Maine’s candidates for governor are unveiling their plans for education reform.Independent Eliot Cutler says his “No Excuses” education proposals include support for charter school legislation and rewarding teachers for student performance.Democrat Libby Mitchell would expand pre-kindergarten services to every school district and guarantee grants for every qualified high school graduate to attend the state university or community college system.Republican Paul LePage is calling for a “Learn to Earn” program. It would allow students to begin earning college credits while in high school.His plan would also put more emphasis on training in technical fields.
