WABI Makes Maine Broadcasting History 

WABI TV5 made Maine television history Monday.WABI, Maine’s first television station, is now the first station in Maine broadcasting local news in high definition.A second big improvement is underway. Crews began installing a new antenna today on our tower on Pickard Mountain in Dixmont.It’s the initial stage of TV5 and the CW’s transition from a UHF signal to a VHF signal.Technicians will be installing additional transmission equipment and testing the new antenna over the next couple of months.We expect to complete the switch to VHF in early December. For now, we’ll remain on the current UHF channel.We will make announcements in advance of the final channel switch. DTV information is also available in the programming section of this website.
