National Coming Out Day was celebrated in downtown Bangor Monday night.A rally was held in West Market Square.National Coming Out Day is an international event that gives gay, lesbian and bisexual people the opportunity to “come out” to others about their sexuality. The common topic at Monday’s rally was the number of young people who are taking their lives because of being bullied because of their sexuality.” I think it’s caused a great deal of sadness. We want to do something, we want to speak out. When you’re that young you don’t feel you have a voice when you’re our age and you’re pass troubled, difficult times we want to stand and say to young people there is a life after. Find somebody, speak to somebody. There is a community that’s there.”The first national coming out day was held on October 11th in 1988.
