Maine BPA Ban on Hold

Maine environmental regulators have put off a decision on whether to expand a proposed ban on bisphenol-A in baby bottles and sippy cups. The chemical, also known as BPA is used to harden plastics in some food containers and hundreds of other household items. On Thursday, the Board of Environmental Protection discussed expanding the proposal to also include packaging for infant formula and baby food. There was no vote, however board members did request a study of safer alternatives to BPA, and they want it completed within six months.
