Investigation Continues for Alleged Animal Abuse in Dedham

State Animal Welfare Officials say they’re still investigating the alleged abuse and neglect of several horses and cats seized in Dedham that we first told you about yesterday.District Humane Agent Chrissy Perry says they’re running blood work and other tests on the horses to determine their conditions.Neighbors say the owner of the animals in Dedham would be gone for weeks at a time, leaving the horses without food or water.Yesterday, a group of animal control officers from the state and town showed up at the property on Bald Mountain Road to seize six horses and two cats.Neighbors say the owner of the animals and the property, Jean Marie Ahearn, has not returned to the residence and has not been seen since last Thursday. The animals will *not* be put up for adoption until the case is closed. However, Perry says the state has many other horses in need of a home, and if you’re looking to adopt one you should call 287-3846.
