Former Maine Governer Candidate Incident in Court 

Three people are pleading not guilty to charges they falsified documents while circulating nominating petitions for former Maine Governor candidate John Richardson.The incident forced Richardson to drop out of the race for the Democratic nomination. 51-year-old Denise Altvater of Perry and 46-year-old William Moore of Brunswick have requested jury trials. 54-year-old Joseph Pickering of South Portland, faces a hearing on the charges.The three collected 5-dollar contributions in Richardson’s attempt to qualify for public campaign funding through Maine’s Clean Election Act.
