Big Band Dance Draws a Big Crowd

Folks in Brewer put on their dancing shoes and strutted their stuff for a good cause at the Hammond Street Senior Center’s Big Band Dance and live auction. This was the second year the center hosted the event, it took place at Jeff’s Catering on Littlefield Way.Couples and friends danced the night away to the sounds of 19-40’s big band music thanks to the Queen City Big Band. The event was a family affair, the band played under the direction of Brian Nadeau, his mother is a member of the center.”She had the idea for our annual dance to try out a big band dance and it was so popular last year that we just had to do it again this year, we added an extra hour, we sold out last year and we’re even bigger than we were then,” said Deanna Partridge with the Hammond Street Senior Center. All of the proceeds of the event went to the center’s programming fund.
