More than 250 students spent the day at the state YMCA Camp in Winthrop to learn how to jump-start their careers. They were there for the Jobs for Maine’s Graduates Program. It’s designed to prepare students to graduate from High School, ready to succeed in post secondary education and the workforce. Middle and High School Students were elected to go to the camp to learn about and practice leadership skills. This morning, kids joined the “junkyard regatta” where boats were built from scrap to teach the kids about communication and teamwork. As you can see not all the boats could float but the students had plenty of fun with the project. The conference will wrap up on Friday.
