Chalk it Up at the You-Are-Loved Event 

An organization at the University of Maine would like you to know “You-Are-Loved.”Monday night the Touchstone Project is joining several other campus organizations for the nationwide suicide-prevention awareness project, You-Are-Loved Chalk Message Project.Folks can gather around the University Mall area from 6:30 to 8:30 Monday night to hear their message and help celebrate the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, and Transgendered Community.Whitney Kagnas is a graduate assistant for the UMaine Counseling Center. She wants students and community members to get creative with their sidewalk chalk art to let people know that everyone is accepted.Whitney Kangas: “Uplifting messages for the GLBT community just trying to make them feel more comfortable on campus. They’ll see this art and they’ll realize there are people out there that really support them and they don’t have to feel alone.”For more information on the project or if you need to talk to a counselor, call 581-1392.There’s a similar project taking place in downtown Bangor. It starts at 5:30 Monday night.
