(AP) – The Maine Republican Party says it’sfiling a complaint with the Federal Election Commission againstDemocratic U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, claiming she violated laws onher use of a private jet. The GOP says Maine’s 1st District congresswoman broke the law byflying to a New York fundraiser on Sept. 13 on her fiance DonaldSussman’s private jet. The party says jet travel by candidates tocampaign events is forbidden under federal election law. Pingree faces Republican Dean Scontras in her re-election bid. Pingree said in a statement her opponents are avoiding talkingabout the real issues that Maine people face, like fixing theeconomy, protecting social security, and taking care of veterans.She said the repeated allegations are politically motivated anduntrue.
