Governor Baldacci Cuts $10 Million in State Spending 

Today, Governor Baldacci signed a curtailment executive order to slash state spending by 10 million dollars.The cuts come after the state found out it would be receiving 10 million dollars less in Medicaid funding from the federal government.DHHS is hit hardest, with about 5.5 million dollars in government cuts. A lot of the cuts will be absorbed by programs that will not be expanded, according to the Commissioner of DHHS.Education is not included in the reduction.
