Rabies Conference Held in Augusta 

In Maine, there were just over 60 cases of rabies last year.In an effort to get more information out about the disease, health and wildlife officials held a news conference in Augusta as part of world rabies day.The disease is caused by a virus that animals and people can get through exposures to saliva or nervous tissue from a rabid animals.Officials urge pet owners to vaccinate their animals.Officials are also hoping folks learn more about rabies and what to do if they are exposed to it.
