The Bangor Raceway at Bass Park was full of people this morning, all taking part in the Memory Walk. This was the twentieth year for the walk and more than 500 people came out for the cause. All the money raised goes to the Maine Alzheimer’s Association.Kristie Miner is head of the Bangor walk. She says it’s grown every year and she is pleased with the response. The walkers started at the raceway and went down Buck Street and looped around Fairmount Park, eventually ending back at the raceway.Miner says it’s important for folks to take part in something like this. “Because Alzheimer’s Disease is a very difficult disease. Progressive disease of the brain. It affects a lot of people in Maine. An estimated 37,000 people in Maine and their families and caregivers.”They set a goal of $55,000 and exceeded that, raising over $63,000.
