Local Church Hosts Low Cost Dental Clinic in Bangor

People in need of dental work were able to get it at a low cost on Saturday in Bangor. The Grace United Methodist Church on Union Street hosted a low cost dental clinic. The services were provided by Tooth Protectors, an organization that provides on site dental care in alternative settings like schools and nursing homes.Mainecare was accepted, but there was a nominal fee for non-mainecare patients.”Maine is seeing a real decline in dentists available to see people and Maine Care is really having a hard time finding a dentist that will take them at all and so it just a real shortage of people to go and financially people just can’t afford to go to a traditional dentist office,” said Tammy Chouinard, a Hygenist with Tooth Protectors. Because today’s event was so successful, the Grace United Methodist Church says it plans to host more of them in the near future.
