Hamel Pleads Guilty to Rumford Shootings 

The triggerman in a double killing in Rumford, Maine, has pleaded guilty in Oxford County Superior Court.On Wednesday 20-year-old Eric Hamel of Mexico admitted his guilt in the shooting deaths of 48-year-old Roger Day and 22-year-old Victor Sheldon in August 2010. Also facing murder charges is Richard Moulton Jr. of Rumford, who’s scheduled to be tried in February.Hamel reportedly told police that he and Moulton met several times to plan the killings and that he agreed to do it for $2,000.Police say Moulton was angry because Sheldon allegedly assaulted his estranged girlfriend, who’d begun dating Moulton. No sentencing date has been set for Hamel.
