The Katahdin Area Council, Boy Scouts of America are having quite the celebration.It’s the Centennial Camporee and it’s going to be in Bass Park in Bangor.They’re inviting the general public to celebrate their 100 years of service.The event will feature scout skills, displays by the Maine Army Guard, Maine Forest Service, the Maine Warden Service and numerous area fire departments.There will also be a pinewood derby.All the scouts are excited to celebrate the milestone.” It’s a lot of fun. Just seeing what they did and after I started getting active in Scouts I just had a lot of fun. And really enjoyed the organization and got to do a lot of stuff I probably would have never done if I wasn’t in Scouts.”” This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate 100 years of scouting and making a difference in the lives of folks in Maine. So we’re real excited about this.”The camporee will take place the weekend of October first. There will be a fireworks display at 9:30pm Saturday.
