Bangor Woman Sentenced to Six Years for Sexual Assault 

A Bangor woman who admitted to sexually abusing a man then burning him with hot water while he was unconscious will spend the next 6 years in prison.27-year-old Laura Smith was sentenced Friday morning in a courtroom in bangor.Before her sentence was read, Smith apologized for her actions.She pleaded guilty in June to aggravated assault and gross sexual assault.The victim told police he woke up with injuries after getting drunk at a party in November of last year.Superior Court Justice William Anderson told the courtroom, “It seems to the court what really happened that this passed out, troubled man was lying on the floor, everybody was drinking it was almost a cruel, painful degrading joke or prank.”Police say the 43-year-old victim suffered burns on his back, a broken ankle and perforated bowel.Smith told police she did it as a joke.
