Another sign of fall – the first flu shot clinic of the season is underway in Bangor. And organizers say, compared to last year, there’s plenty of vaccine to go around right now.The Bangor Regional Influenza Collaborative is hosting the clinic at the Spectacular Event Center, on Griffin Road. It started at 7 a.m. Friday and goes until 7 p.m. Shots are $25 each and are limited to adults. Bangor’s Public Health Director, Patty Hamilton, says there’s an ample supply of shots – and no priority list of patients who should receive it first. So anyone who wants the vaccine, can get it.Hamilton says, “Some people are concerned this year about the H1N1 vaccine. That is included in the vaccine that we’re giving people today, so the seasonal vaccine this year includes the H1N1 strain and two other strains.”Hamilton also says doctors offices should have plenty of vaccine available, too, though sometimes they only purchase a limited amount, which is why you might need to go to a clinic or a pharmacy for a shot. Hamilton says two other flu shot clinics are in the works for this season -one would include children, another might be a drive-through clinic. No dates have been set for either of those.
