The Long Offseason Finally Ends For Colby Football

Most college football teams have played a game or two, maybe more, already this year, but not every team.Colby College plays its first game of the season this Saturday against Trinity. It’s a long wait but the guys are ready. Tim Throckmorton is here with more, Tim?The conference that Colby College plays in is the last conference in the country to begin its football season. It’s a long wait for the eight week season. By the time many schools are playing their fourth game of the season, Colby will be playing its first. Last year, the Mules went 4-4 with a big rivalry win over Bates. Injuries have made things harder for 7-year head coach Ed Mestieri. One of his captains, Matt Hollinger is out for the year with a broken leg. Even with all of the waiting and set backs, the Mules are eager to show fans what they can do in 2010.Ed Mestieri – Colby Head Coach”Trinity is one of the better programs in our league, year in and year out. We’re just hoping to be know to finish games and take everything it takes to win and I think we’re going to surprise a lot of people this year.”The game on Saturday against Trinity is set for a 1PM kickoff in Harford, Connecticut. The Mules have their home opener a week after that against Middlebury.
