“Out of the Darkness” Walks 

In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 16 minutes, claiming more than 34,000 lives each year, according to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). In Maine, nearly 200 people took their life in 2007. To help promote awareness to the issue of suicide and depression AFSP is encouraging folks to walk to save lives. “Out of the Darkness” walks have been organized throughout Maine, including in Orono and Waterville to take place Sunday.
