Colby Football Looking to Overcome Injuries Before Season Opener

Colby football opens its season this Saturday on the road against Trinity. So far in this pre-season it has been a long road for the coaching staff. They’ve had to fill some holes because of injuries. Making matters worse is that two of the injured players are captains. Matt Hellinger is a wide receiver and he’s lost for the season after breaking his leg in practice. Ryan Murphy is a linebacker and he’s not healthy either. He’ll only play if they absolutely need him although he’ll be the teams long snapper. Other players are getting ready and they expect a great effort for the season opener and there are no excuses.Ed Mestieri – Colby Football Head Coach”We’re not that banged up but there are key guys they have been to practice and leading the team every way possible they have done an outstanding.Matt Hellinger – Colby Football Captain”Basically I just try to be the same person I was before. I still go in the weight room and just help the other guys and still yell.”
