State Releases Report On Mental Health Programs For Kids

A report on the state of the state’s mental health services for children was released today. The 60-page report was issued by the Maine Children’s Alliance.Besides highlighting what’s working the report also reveals some troubling areas. It says nearly 60% of kids with substance abuse were also found to be victims of child abuse and neglect.Governor Baldacci says the results show how some state agencies have worked together through tough economic times to address the problem. “I think as long as people are willing to deal with reality. Which is that we’ve got fewer dollars, we’ve got to stretch dollars, we’ve got to be more efficient, and we’ve got to integrate things so that there’s more data being shared. There’s more departments sharing it or working in collaboration,” the Governor said. You can see the complete report on the website
