The Maine Veterans Home on Hogan Road celebrated their 15th year here in Bangor with an open house this afternoon. The home provides a variety of services to veterans and their families. Those services include all sorts of rehabilitation and treatment and the facility is looking to expand. They also provide a long term living facility for veterans.Congressman Mike Michaud, who serves on the Committee for Veterans Affairs in Washington, was on-hand for the celebration. “They do a fabulous job taking care of our veterans throughout the state of Maine, says Congressman Michaud. “We have 6 veterans homes here in Maine and it’s always great to be here and talk to the veterans and employees.”Officials at the veterans home were happy to have the chance to show the public what they’re all about. “I want to thank all the veterans,” says Administrator Greg Urban. “I think everyone here who works here feels special that we’re helping the veterans. It’s a special place to work.” The Maine Veterans home broke ground and started construction earlier this year on a 4000 square foot building that will help them to better serve the rehabilitation needs of the veterans they serve.
