Maine Tax Revenue Up Two Months Into Fiscal Year 

Maine tax officials say revenue is 8.2% more then expected, leaving the state fund collections over budget by $22.5 million two months into the fiscal year.Officials say this is better than the same period last year when Maine ended the fiscal year below forecasts.Sales and use tax were over budget by $4 million for August, reflecting the strong sales during the height of the tourism season.The state highway fund also came in over budget. Fuel tax brought in $4.4 million more than expected.Another important sector, auto sales, was flat compared to a year earlier.
