Literacy Volunteers Help Individuals Learn to Read 

Reading is something many of us take for granted. So it’s hard to believe that there are adults in our state who can’t read.In some cases, they had to quit school in order to work. For others, english is a second language.Literacy volunteers of Bangor is dedicated to helping these individuals learn to read, and there is currently a waiting list of adult students.That’s why they’re now looking for volunteers to train as tutors.A training course will be offered, starting on Wednesday, September 15th and running through October 20th.It takes place at United Technologies Center on the Hogan Road in Bangor.The fee is 35-dollars for the course and scholarships are available.For more information, including how to register, you can log onto or call Mary Lyon at 947-8451.
