Last month we told you that the soup kitchen in Belfast was running low on funds and was nearing closure. After word got out about their plight, the funds and food donation started pouring in.And now they are in no danger of turning people away.A Board of Directors has been formed, a fiscal agent has been established until all of the paperwork is finalized until they can become a 501c3 non profit organization. The financial gap has been bridged, and the kitchen will remain open at least through the winter.” The only thing that we can say is this is a mandate from the people and the people in the greater Belfast Area are saying we will have a soup kitchen and it’s not going to close,” said Alex Allmayer-Beck the Board Chairman. While the soup kitchen has reached their funding goal, they are still accepting donations and you can contact them by calling 338-4845.
