Maine Discovery Museum Open for Fall Season

The Maine Discovery Museum is back open after shutting down for a week in order to clean. Each year, the museum closes its doors and makes sure everything gets a proper scrubbing.Staff members say they have to shut down for the week because it’s just too hard to get all the cleaning done when folks are in the museum. ” So when we have a slow time in the year, which is September, we like to close down and do some major cleaning and repair work, painting and that sort of thing,” said Laurie Claverie, director of Visitor and Volunteer Services at the museum.Claverie says there will be some new additions to the museum for the fall season. Also, on September 24th the museum is hosting a Raising Readers Book Celebrtion from 5 to 7 in the evening.Admission is free.Raising Readers has been giving books to Maine kids at hospitals and doctors’ offices across the state for 10 years.
