‘Blue Mass’ Honors Maine’s Emergency Responders 

(AP) – The head of Maine’s Roman CatholicDiocese is paying tribute to police, firefighters and paramedicsduring the church’s annual “Blue Mass.” Bishop Richard Malone is giving thanks and bestow his blessingsupon Maine’s emergency responders Sunday at the Basilica of SaintsPeter and Paul in Lewiston. Members of public safety agencies have been invited to attend inuniform, color guards will be on hand and vehicles representing thedepartments will be on display around the basilica. The annual event takes place each year on the weekend closest toSept. 11 in recognition of the response to the terrorist attacksnine years.
