Medieval Tournament 

Folks can step back into the Medieval times on Saturday.The ninth annual Medieval Tournament is being held at Fort Knox.Folks will find knightly tournaments of fencing, period dancing and music, art demonstrations and much more.Organizers say it’s fun for all.”We want people to understand that the middle ages were not necessarily about beauty and culture but indeed were the basis of western beauty and culture and we see that in our regular lives today.”Throughout the day, costumed members of the SCA and the Canadian Maritimes sang traditional medieval music.The SCA is an international organization that re-creates the arts and skills of Pre-17th Century Europe.Medieval weapons were also on display and several knights engaged in tournaments.Executive Director of Friends of Fort Knox, Leon Seymour says the event continues to grow each year.”I can tell you that in terms of all the events we do, ranging from Civil War re-enactments to Pirate Days. This is probably the largest attended event this season.”Seymour says they are happy to host all these events that attract different kinds of people.
