Plane Crash 

Levant emergency crews and Maine State Police responded to a plane crash on Pember Road in Levant just before 11 Monday morning.The pilot, Ian Gillis of Glenburn, as well as the passenger, Douglas Grant of Petersburg, Virginia, were in the plane at the time of the crash. Both were taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.According to Sergeant Mark Brooks, the pilot was attempting a landing maneuver at a privately owned grass air strip when the accident happened.”It looks like they were trying to execute a what they say is a touch and go and when they touched down something happened. It appears that maybe some wind shifted and caused the aircraft to come down.”No one else was involved in the accident.According to FAA records, the plane was manufactured in 1948.The FAA is further investigating the crash.
