Father Holds Fundraiser in Memory of Daughter 

A fundraiser was held in Carmel Sunday to remember a daughter and help fight cancer.Wayne Elston’s daughter Marion died of brain cancer when she was 16 years old.Wayne owns Wayne Elston’s Speed Shop, so he’s been holding racecar fundraisers for years to raise money to benefit Eastern Maine Medical Center Pediatric Oncology through Healthcare Charities.The fundraiser lets folks get an up-close look at the cars, there’s also a cook-out and as Wayne describes it, just a fun get-together.He says his goal is to raise money to help other families and to make sure his daughter, Marion, is never forgotten.”She fought it and fought it a lot. They gave her 6 months– she lived almost 3 years… She wrote a nice book, and I just don’t want nobody to forget her,” said Wayne Elston.Wayne says he’s thankful for everyone who comes out to support his fundraising.He says there’s something special about raising the funds one dollar at a time.
