Councilors Review Revised Bangor Arena Plan

The company tapped to design a new Bangor arena has now come up with a plan that includes more seats and a new civic center.City councilors reviewed the latest proposal Tuesday night, which would build an arena with about 8-thousand seats, compared to 58-hundred seats in the first design. It would also get rid of the civic center and put a new building in its place. The estimated cost of the project is $75 million,, but Council Chair Richard Stone says the work could be done in phases. First on the agenda would be replacing the aging auditorium.Stone says the next step is to turn the project over to the Cianbro Corporation, which is the construction manager, to come up with some hard costs. He says councilors hope to take a closer look at the plans starting in mid-November.
