Bangor Man Who Fired Near Police Makes Court Appearance 

A 25-year-old Bangor man, arrested Saturday after allegedly firing a gun in the direction of police at his grandmother’s house in Holden, made his first court appearance today.Daniel Day is charged with armed robbery, aggravated reckless conduct with a firearm, and criminal mischief. His attorney told the judge that day is an army veteran and a diagnosed schizophrenic.Day has requested to be sent to the Togus VA Medical Center in Augusta. His bail has been set at $750 cash. If Day makes bail he will be transferred to Togus as soon as a bed is available.He’s not allowed to have contact with his father or grandmother and he’s not allowed in the town of Holden. According to the Holden Police Department, a family member called police just before 3:00 Saturday afternoon saying day had numerous guns and was distraught. Police say when they approached day, shots were fired in their direction. Day surrendered about an hour after authorities. arrived.He’s due in court again in November.
