American Folk Festival Collects $170,000 In Donations 

The American Folk Festival is over for another year and according to organizers they collected $17O,000 in donations this year. Thats up from $107,000 collected last year.Things wrapped up at 6:30 Sunday evening.The festival kicked off on Friday night.It’s estimated that tens of thousands of people attended the three-day event.Sixteen performing groups played blues, gospel, jazz, bluegrass, Irish and a variety of other music styles.Food and craft vendors were also on hand.Organizers say they’re happy with how things went this year, and will only need to make a few changes for next year’s festival.” We feel pretty good about the site lay out, certainly about the work that’s been done on the waterfront and how that improves the festival every year. I just think if we keep improving a little bit each year it’ll just keep getting better and better,” said Heather McCarthy, executive director of the American Folk Festival.Saturday was the strongest day of the festival.
