The Bangor Land Trust’s annual road ride will take place this year but under a new name. The “Pedal the Penobscot Ride” will take roll Sunday, September 12th.Riders can choose between a 28-mile ride or a 76-mile ride. Both routes are alongside the Penobscot river. Money raised will help preserve habitat and help maintain bike trails for public use. “Our Road Ride also focuses attention on making Bangor more bicycle friendly,” says Lucy Quimby, President of the Bangor Land Trust. “We’ve gotten, as a result, more bike lanes at various points in this city and we’re looking towards more. And it provides financial support for conservation work allowing us to preserve more land and put trails on it for people to enjoy and keep the trails in good repair.”For more information and to register for the ride you can visit the website www.bangorlandtrust.org. Or you can register on race day, Sunday september 12th at the starting line, which you’ll find at the corner of front and railroad streets on the bangor waterfront. Everyone’s invited. Children under fourteen must be accompanied by an adult.
