Bangor Falls to Aruba in SLWS Championship

The Bangor All-Stars have overcome everybody’s expectations except their own by reaching the championship game of the Senior League World Series. Today, the Bangor Boys going up against the team from Aruba that lost the Junior League World Series last year.Aruba jumped out to a three nothing lead after the first inning and never looked back. Bangor fought hard to climb back but Shawn Duinkerk was terrific on the mound. Aruba wins the 2010 Senior League World Series 8-1 over Bangor.The Aruba boys, stomping their feet, and stomping all over the base paths. Aruba pitcher Shawn Duinkerk ropes a double to the gap in left center. That scores two runs. Aruba jumps out to a 3-0 lead after the first.After a shaky first inning, Bangor pitcher Cody Savage settled down. When he wasn’t getting strikeouts, he was getting great plays from his defense. Terrific diving stop by Luke Hetterman to avoid the base hitWhile Savage pitched well for Bangor, Shawn Duinkerk was lights out for Aruba. He barely wasted any pitches today. He goes the distance and throws only 78 pitches. Nine pitches in the third and fourth combined.In the fifth, Bangor get on the board. They didn’t score a run until the fifth in their win against Texas. Bases loaded and nobody out. The pitcher, Cody Savage with the fielders choice. Dylan Morris scores and it’s 3-1 Aruba. But Bangor only grab one in the fifth.Still 3-1 in the seventh. Aruba breaks it open. They score five runs in their last at bat. The big blow, a two run homer by Chadwick Tromp gives aruba an 8-1 lead.Bangor down to their last at bats again. The heart of the lineup due-up. But Duinkerk unfazed. He gets a strikeout and then a double play to end the game. Aruba are your 2010 Senior League World Champions. They beat the Bangor All-Stars representing District Three 8-1. For Bangor, they overcame everybody’s expectations except their own.
