It’s been a run for the ages for the Bangor All-Stars. This year they ended the streak of futility for the host team by winning two games. Today, the All-Stars not only going for their third win, but also for a spot in the semi-finals. All they need is a win against the defending Senior League champs from Houston, Texas.Texas jumps on the board first. Fourth inning, Luke Cone singles to center field. Samuel Reid scores. Southwest up 2-0.It was 3-0 Texas in the sixth. Bangor comes alive. Seth Freudenberger loops one to center. The diving catch comes up short. Nic Cota scores. freudenberger safe at third. He would score to make it 3-2.Then in Bangor’s last at bat, with a runner on, Josiah Hartley crushes one deep to center. It’s not coming back. A two run blast puts Bangor up four to three. It’s been a difficult tourney for Hartley. He was dropped to sixth in the lineup but makes up for it with one swing. His teammates mob him at the plate.Then in the bottom of the seventh, Curtis Worcester slams the door closed on Texas. Gets the strikeout to end the game. Bangor going where no host team from Maine has gone before. They are in to the semifinals with a 4-3 win. Afterwards, Josiah Hartley spoke about his two run homer.
