Judge Rejects Self Defense Claim in Murder of Dedham Man

A judge has rejected a Florida woman’s claim that she killed a man from Dedham in self defense. 45-year-old Tamra Leasure of Riverview is charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of 53-year-old Arthur Tilley, Junior. She went before a judge in Florida late last month, asking him to throw out the case. Leasure said she killed Tilley to protect herself.But state prosecutors tell TV5 the judge in the case issued an order denying that argument. Police say in March of last year Leasure shot Tilley three times during an argument in her home.Tilley had been staying with Leasure for several days.Leasure told authorities after the shooting, she put the gun in Tilley’s hand to make it look like a suicide.Tilley was a well-known member of the Bangor Kiwanis Club. His father is a former Bangor city councilor.Leasure is due back in court in October.
