Volunteers Needed for Race for the Cure

On September 19th, thousands of people will head to the Bangor waterfront to raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is looking for volunteers.Organizers say volunteers play a crucial role in the success of the race. Each year, 150 to 200 volunteers are needed, and this year, there’s still room.Volunteers are needed to help with registration, t-shirts, handing out flowers and much more. Those involved say everyone is very appreciative of all those who donate their time and help out.”It means so much to the breast cancer survivors and their families and the people who have been impacted personally by breast cancer when they see all the volunteers shirts running around the waterfront and at the Bangor Mall. They’re really moved to think that people are willing to volunteer because it means something to them to be supported,” said Susan Patten, volunteer co-chair of the Race for the Cure.
