New Stamp Featuring Maine Artist

The U.S. Postal Service is unveiling a new postage stamp here in Maine featuring a painting by artist Winslow Homer, who produced some of his memorable work while living in Maine.The stamp features Homer’s “Boys in a Pasture,” an 1874 painting that shows two boys sitting at peace in a field.The Portland Postmaster and his staff are unveiling the stamp on Thursday at the Portland Museum of Art, where an exhibit of 28 of Homer’s watercolors and oil paintings are now on display.Homer produced some of his best-known works while living in a studio in Scarborough, from 1883 until his death in 1910.
