Bangor Homeless Shelter Adds New Room

The Bangor Area Homeless Shelter has added a new room to accommodate the growing demand for beds and services. The new room will have five beds and a television.Six businesses including Hollywood Slots, Lowe’s and the Maine Fire Protection Agency donated time and money to build the room.Christopher Haywood has been living in the shelter since June and credits its staff for helping him get his life back together. He hopes the extra beds will help others in his situation.”Forget about the cable, it’s just a bed to sleep in it, but I call this home for now, it feels good to know I’m safe,” he said. The folks who run the shelter say they can always use more volunteers and donations. If you’d like to help, log onto
