Police Hand Out 52 Warnings on Maine Turnpike 

Maine State Police say troopers issued dozens of warnings while stepping up enforcement of the state’s so-called “move over” law.In all, police handed out 52 warnings during enforcement effortson the Maine Turnpike. Troopers stepped up enforcement last week inYork, and held another effort this week in Portland.The “move over” law requires drivers to move into the passinglane, if possible, or slow down when traveling by police cars, firetrucks, ambulances, tow trucks and other vehicles with flashinglights in the breakdown lane.Police say 16 state police cruisers since 2003 have been struckby motorists while parked along roadways.
