U.S. Trade Representative Visits Maine 

United States Trade Representative, Ron Kirk, was in Bangor Thursday discussing ways increased exports can help to create and sustain Maine jobs.The multi-state tour is part of President Obama’s National Export Initiative. The President has set a goal for the United States to double exports in the next five years, with a goal of creating two-million jobs.Kirk spend time at the Bangor State Fair talking with folks about the importance of international trade. “About a quarter of everything grown, raised in America, we’ve got to find markets for outside of the United States. Negotiation, liberalization of trade with other countries is one way we do that,” said Ron Kirk, U.S. Trade Representative.Kirk will sit down with Congressman Mike Michaud Friday to discuss trade agreements and how they will impact Maine.
