Prescription Information Kept Confidential 

A federal appeals court has upheld a Maine law that restricts access by medical data companies to doctors’ prescription information.The court ruled this week on Maine’s law. It previously upheld a similar New Hampshire law making doctors’ prescription-writing confidential.The U.S. Supreme court let New Hampshire’s law stand last summer. Maine’s law was challenged by three companies that gather and sell medical information to pharmaceutical companies for their marketing programs.
