Maine to Benefit from Passage of Jobs Bill 

A vote by the U.S. Senate has eased fears of a large gap in Maine’s state budget for the fiscal year that started July 1st.The legislation is projected to provide Maine increased Medicaid funding of approximately $77 million, which the state’s already budgeted, and will help avoid what could have been $100 million in further budget cuts.Governor Baldacci praised Republican Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins for casting critical votes for the funding.The legislation will also provide an additional $39 million to protect teaching jobs in Maine.
