City councilors in Bangor say if a new auditorium is built, they’d like to consider hiring a private company to run it.Members of the finance committee have voted to hold a council workshop next month to talk about the idea. Right now the Bangor Auditorium and Civic Center is operated by Bass Park, which is a city-run department. Council chair Richard Stone says a new complex could bring new opportunities to attract entertainment and organizations that the city just doesn’t have experience in. Earlier this summer, councilors voted to hire an architectural firm in Colorado and the Cianbro Corporation to come up with a U-shaped design for a 7,400 seat arena. The project could go to the council for a vote by mid-October.
