Police Identify Pedestrian Killed in Westbrook 

Police in Windham have identified a man killed Saturday afternoon along the Windham-Westbrook town line.Police used photos and fingerprints provided by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department to identify 45-year-old Michael Charette of Portland as the victim.Police say Charette was walking along the River Road around 3:00 Saturday afternoon, when it appears he stepped out into the path of an on-coming car, heading south into Westbrook.Investigators say the driver, Paul Cady, from Westbrook did stop. Charette was taken to Maine Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.Police had to shut down River Road in Windham and Cumberland Street in Westbrook for several hours as they worked the scene.
